Ivy, you were one of the first people to welcome me to Elgin nearly 10yrs ago when i took over the Granary. You were a pub landlady to look up to; no nonsense, always smiling no matter how busy, and was everyones sister, mum, auntie with a listening ear & time for anyone ! You will be greatly missed x

It is with a very heavy heart I am thinking of you and the family today. It came as such a shock, and it is hard to not be able to come to give you the send off you most certainly deserved and to be able to give our full support to your lovely family. You are someone I always looked up to in my life, such a strong hardworking Mum, with a great sense of humour and full of fun. I will always remember you just like the last time we saw each other only a few weeks ago. A lovely wee moment just seeing you at the house when I was coming to Mums, and us having big smiles and our wee hello as usual, felt like everything was as it should be. x

So very sorry uncle John, Andrew and Cheryl to hear of aunt ivy's passing. Aunt ivy was a Down to earth amazing women who always had time for us if we bumped into her. Loved also her tales of her travels abroad and the fact she was willing to spy on Albert in magaluf on his golfing holiday as you were both there then. She will be a miss to lots of people. I wish I could be there to show our respects but I'm hoping this goes a little to make up for that. Thinking of you all right now love nicola xx

I've known Ivy most of my life as a neighbour and family friend and I think we can all agree theres been some memories Ryan's Music has to be a first lol the car crashing at the junction and parking perfectly in your front garden...my favourite memory of Ivy was when I was in hospital with E coli and Ivy was inat the same time getting her thyroid surgery and she came wandering into my room plonked herself down and started tapping away and the nurse came in mortified saying this is an isolation room get out ....then 5 minutes later there was a chap at the glass panel on my door and it was Ivy holding up a pack of fags pissing herself laughing cause I couldn't get one ....she was a wonderful woman loved by so many and my heard is breaking right now for Hammy,Andrew Cheryl and all family xxx

Ivy, you were one in a million. Remembering working with you in the Whiter, so many drunken nights, meeting you and Hammy on holiday and you feeding Erin her ever first mashed tatties in a pub in Spain - they are still her favourite food now 😂. Our thoughts go out to Hammy, Andrew, Cheryl, Ava and all of the family xx

I remember my first night in Elgin, popped my head into the Whiter to ask 'how much Jim Laidlaw took out of the bank at a time', Ivy told me £10!!! - that was our first encounter. From then we got on, became friends, buddies and at this minute, I would love to do nothing more than have a dram with you Ivy Jean. My heart goes out to Hammy. Andrew, Cheryl, Ava and the rest of the family. I will cherish memories of our Elgin holiday Mondays, Pool nights, Jo's, holidays and Pub Treasure hunts to name but a few. You will always be in my thoughts. Don't cause too much commotion up there. Torr Gaol Kareen x

Attending a funeral FAQs
What should I wear?
We normally associate wearing black with going to a funeral. But it is increasingly typical for families to express a preferred dress code. Our advice is to look out for information from the family in a notice published either in newspapers, online or in the funeral director window to advise you of their preference.
How long does a service last?
Typically a service in most churches or crematoria lasts around 20-30 minutes. A formal mass may take a little longer and we would expect this to be nearer an hour. Finally, burials can vary in length as they are weather dependent.
Where should I sit?
Family and close friends typically reserve the first couple of rows in a service. We recommend sitting nearer the front than the back of a service space in order to support the family and enabling late arrivals to discreetly fill back rows.
Where should I send flowers?
Often a family will express a preference for flowers - or charity donations in lieu of flowers. We recommend you keep an eye on notices posted in newspapers, or online or in the funeral director window so you are able to follow their wishes.
